Wengar Confident In Continued Arsenal Management

The future of Arsene Wenger in the club has been under a lot speculation for the past few weeks and even months as the French coach have not secured a single piece of major silverware since 2005 when Arsenal won the FA Cup.

Things may change for Arsenal and Wenger on May 17th when they play against Hull City in the finals of the FA Cup. Many people started to believe that the French coach would only initiate talks about his contract with the club after the finals of the FA Cup was played but Wenger confirmed that despite what the outcome of that match is, he will remain in charge of Arsenal’s squad.

“I’ve said many times my word is my word. I’m from a period where you didn’t need a pen to commit. You will see me again. It’s not linked to the FA Cup final. It was important, of course, to be in the Champions League that’s for sure. I’ve had no moments of doubt. If I had moments of doubt it would have been a few years ago when I had to say no to many offers and commit to this club and I was under a lot of pressure.” Wenger said.

This past season has seen Arsenal dropping from the top of the Premier League to the 4th spot but Wenger remains hopeful of what’s to come for the club as they managed to get into the Champions League and finished the campaign by securing a 2-0 triumph against Norwich in the last match of the season. This victory against Norwich was the 5th consecutive victory for Arsenal after they had already grabbed crucial successive wins over West Ham United, Hull, Newcastle United and West Bromwich.

DIG DEEP

Arsene Wenger has stated that his team had to dig deep in order to get the 3-1 win over West Ham. The victory has put Arsenal as once again favourites for the top four. The club had been fighting with Everton for this position, but poor form in the last few weeks has let them down.

Everton appeared to be the favourites to finish in the top four after a string of victories including the 3-0 win over Arsenal. The 4-2 win on penalties over Wigan in the FA Cup semi-final appears to have motivated Arsenal once again, as they looked brilliant against West Ham. Continue reading DIG DEEP

IT STARTED SO WELL…

Arsenal’s start to the ongoing season was so promising. The way they played till the end of last year, people were almost certain that they would end their trophy drought this season. But, unfortunately, things changed completely for the Gunners in 2014. They horribly lost their form and from one of the top contenders for the Premier League title, they suddenly became a team struggling for a Champions League spot.

In Football, whenever a team fails, the manager has to take the responsibility because he is the man who is in charge of things, but, not everything is in the hands of a manager. Yes, he is responsible for the tactics being used out there by the players, he is responsible for the selection of personnel, but, he is not responsible for how the players execute a certain plan on the pitch.

In Arsenal’s case, most of their failures off late have come because of the poor execution of plans. The players whom the manager Arsene Wenger was banking upon have just not managed to deliver which is not his fault, but, unfortunately, it’s him who is being criticized or rather crucified by the British media.

If some reports are to be believed, now the Arsenal board is also losing patience and they might have to think again over the extension of Wenger’s contract.

The Gunners still can win a title this season though. They are in the semi final of the FA Cup where they will be facing the reigning champions Wigan Athletic. It’s very important for Wenger to win this tie and then, win the final too. If he does so, not only would he be able to silence his critics, but, he would certainly be offered a new deal by the Arsenal board.
