Manchester City best Performance in Premier League this Season

Manchester City has only lost 3 matches in the Premier League so far and one of those few opponents that they have suffered a defeat against was with Arsenal. Arsene Wenger’s men managed to claim a 2-0 victory after playing in the home soil of Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

This result was a surprising one as Manchester City was expected to win with Sergio Aguero returning from an injury as well as David Silva; both players are the main creative and attacking source but even they failed on making any kind of significant impact on a match that Arsenal somehow managed to maintain in their control and claim the crucial victory.

When the match was over and Arsenal secured all 3 points, Arsene Wenger took the chance to unveil some details concerning the method they used to win the match as the Frenchman said that scoring the first goal in any match is hugely important and his squad was very well organized throughout the entire match. Lukas Podolski from Top to Substitute Player this season

Lukas Podolski has gone from making 33 appearances in his debut season with Arsenal to now only being a substitute player with a few minutes of playing time in certain matches. The German forward is not happy with his current situation at the Emirates Stadium as he has already voiced his frustration about his position in the Premier League club and rumors began to spread around as to where Podolski could move if he continues playing a back-up option but it has now been revealed by Arsene Wenger that Podolski is not for sale.

“He plays a position where there is a big competition. He came very late from his holidays in the summer. He started after his team-mates and was not good physically’’

“It’s not established at all that he will leave at Christmas. It was me who sets the price and it. He is not for sale and there is no offer. Today’s newspapers have an advantage. They know more than us. But the story is completely fabricated.”Arsene Wenger told the media as the French manager of Arsenal responded to question concerning the future of Lukas Podolski.

The German attacker has a contract with Arsenal that expires in 2016 and according to Wenger; the player is not up for sale for the time being. However, if Podolski continues being nothing more than a substitute player then it would simply be better for Arsenal and Arsene Wenger to sell Podolski as they would receive the cash injection needed in order to sign other targets in the January transfer window.

There are a number of players that Arsene Wenger is interested in signing which can upgrade the quality of the squad and solve some of the weaknesses that they have been displaying recently and this can be settled by selling fringe players in order to create space and enough money to sign those desired targets.

Cavani and Reus linked with Arsenal

Arsenal is a club that seems to be always linked with a number of potential signings as Arsene Wenger is continuously trying to increase the quality of the squad and hopefully do something that the club has not managed to do in a long period of time, win major trophies.

Arsene Wenger is not only attempting to bring new talent to the Emirates Stadium in order to boost the quality of the team but also to have enough players at his disposal in case if injuries start popping up which is actually something that has not stopped and has become a serious problem for the Premier League club not only in this season but previous ones as well.

Olivier Giroud, Mikel Arteta, Aaron Ramsey, Mesut Ozil, Mathieu Debuchy, Nacho Monreal, Yaya Sanogo and Serge Gnabry are all of the players that are either out injured or have recently been suffering from physical problems in the squad of Arsene Wenger.

Some of the players that have been more recently linked with Arsenal are Marco Reus and Edinson Cavani.

Edinson Cavani is believed to be unhappy in PSG as he has to stand in the shadows of Zlatan Ibrahimovic as the Swedish attacker is the main goal-scoring machine of the French club and the team is usually being revolved around Ibrahimovic. It remains unclear if Wenger would be interested in signing another striker after having already secured the services of Danny Welbeck and Alexis Sancheza few months ago but if Cavani is offered at a low price, it could attract the interest of Arsene Wenger.

Marco Reus is one of the other high profile players which is being watched not only by Arsenal but a number of clubs around Europe. It’s rumored that Marco Reus does not want to extend his contract with Borussia Dortmund which means that the German midfielder could be available to sign in June and the 26 years old player already has a line of clubs eager on launching offers for him including: Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Athletic Madrid, Arsenal, Chelsea and more recently Liverpool.

It seems unlikely that Arsenal would be able to compete in the monetary scale against some of the other clubs who have been known to offload huge amounts of cash in order to sign their targets but maybe Arsenal can make a surprise move for Reus when he becomes available and sign him just how they did with Mesut Ozil where they paid €42.5 million and signed the German midfielder on a 5 year long contract.
